Glorieta Fire Station No 2

The new building consisted of 3 apparatus bays, office areas, classrooms, and storage areas. The roof framing consisted of open-web steel trusses and metal decking. Load bearing walls were constructed with light gauge steel studs and wood shear panels. Clerestory windows above the apparatus bay windows required the use of wide flange and HSS frame systems to support both vertical and out-of-plane forces. Foundation design and detailing considered the retaining walls to accommodate a fire pump pit, apparatus bay trench drains with sloping slabs and CMU walls at the perimeter of the apparatus bays.
